On Thursday, July 18, the Senate Subcommittee on Intellectual Property is scheduled to vote on the Case Act (S.1273). If passed this important bill would create a three-judge tribunal called the Copyright Claims Board (CCB) within the U.S Copyright Office to handle small copyright claims. This small claim court would benefit independent music creators as an efficient and affordable means to protect against copyright infringers.
The FSA encourages you to show support for your fellow independent music creators and contact your Members of Congress and urge them to support all creators by co-sponsoring this much-needed bill. Our friends at the Copyright Alliance have created an easy-to-use site to find out who your representatives are, and ways to contact them:
We urge you to act today to support this important legislation so it can move forward to becoming law.
